Ladies & Gentlemen, Jodie Fucking Foster!

Because apparently, I live under a rock since I don't watch television, I missed this! Jodie Fosters Golden Globe acceptance speech...
And after hearing all this "controversial" who-ha today I had to YouTube it. And now I'm obsessed (as I wipe the tears from my face). I want more 50 year old Jodie Foster!
Such confidence, control, poise and grace.  Talk about going out with a bang!
All I can honestly say is WOW. I wanna be her when I grow up.

Gosh come to think of it...you know what would be awesome? If she guest starred on SNL!
People of the public, we gotta make that happen!!

In case you too live under a rock here's the clip!

A better version of me.

For the past 2 years my New Year resolutions have been to discover better visions of me. Sparing no expenses.

This year I'll be 28 and although I am really looking forward to my 30's and being a grandma, having nothing but older friends has made me realize,  I need to make the most of "what's left of my youth" in order to really be where I "want" to be in my 30's. And thats more on an emotional note than anything else.

In my early adult years circumstances prevented me from being your standard American adolescent. For starters I left my parents house at 15 supported myself through high school, new york and college and by 26 I have 2 kids with 2 dads and still single. Im sure you get the math.
Having kids changes EVERYTHING. But in this case as it should be in all cases, my kids have been the best thing that has ever happened to me.
The truth is that when you have kids it seems as though there are pieces of you that die. But as I witness now, they actually grow and flourish.  I have realized that I cannot teach, motivate nor expect for my kids to strive for all the best in life, if I inhibit myself from achieving the same. And settling.
For now it seems that-that is the worst fate you can give yourself in this life. To grow tired and settle. For if you settle now it would defeat all the work you've made thus far.
So this year is the year I take back control and rediscover my dreams. Without fear of judgement, or hesitation to take a risk in pursuit of a better version of me. My kids will learn that anyone can dream no matter how big or small just as long as they put hard work into it and they'll witness that dreams do come true!

If when you reach for the moon you fall. Atleast you land amongst the stars.

Pancakes and Syrup.

nom nom nom.
It's breakfast time!
Unlike sister, brothers breakfast options of what he'll eat are limited. And by limited I mean he's a picky eater who only wants pancakes or waffles. So I've had to get pretty creative with them, especially since waffles and pancakes are pretty much void of real nutrition.

Morning Jam!

Although I currently feel like a zombie right now while making breakfast, this song has me and the kids booty bumping while I make pancakes! Its a serious dance party over here- join in on the fun!

Adventures in Pictures: Saturday

One word to sum up my Saturday? Eventful. And man did I score BIG!
I feel like I did everything today!
Advent Calender, started rearranging the kids room, helped a friend with her pop up shop, random yard sale, drove out to a small town to visit my mom,  and got a new kitten! (and he's currently hiding under my bedroom dresser)
Did I mention I scored at the yard sale?! I seriously bought 6 items, 5 of them furniture, for 30 bucks!  And I just so happened to drive upon it on my way to the pop up shop and I actually had cash on me!  Which really, I should of been helping my friend set up her table, but I just couldn't resist!!

Adventures in Pictures: The Pink Scooter

This is Rox’s pink scooter. It was given to him as a hand me down when he was a toddler. And it’s currently his only set of wheels, since his bike was stolen right after we moved to our new neighborhood. Who would steel a baby bike on training wheels you ask? Ass-holes.

We moved into this fabulous area earlier this summer and had yet to scope out our new backyard on foot. So right after breakfast, I decided to pack the baby in the Becco, slip on my Campers and take Rox, his energy and his scooter on a site seeing neighborhood adventure.
I  also gave Rox key words of the day- “curious” and “intriguing” in which we discussed and pointed out things that related, to our curious journey.  Our walk came to a halt at a cute outside Greek cafe where Rox made a friend, and sister finally woke up interested in chasing pigeons.
You should know that I rein from the state where everything is bigger, and this year my city was ranked the #1 coolest city in the nation by Forbes. I have to admit its pretty damn awesome!
Don’t be jealous. I snapped some pics to include you in our adventure. And whether you live in an urban city like we do or in a rural suburb- beauty is all around us and there is  much to learn from our surroundings! You just have to create the adventure!

Enjoy! Des.

Avy's Lavish Birthday.

This past week was The Princess' first birthday. And for the past 2 weeks prior to it I gave Martha Stewart a run for her money making every damned thing I could from scratch. A stress inducing experience with so many rewards once I was able to shake my groove thing at the end result. Kind of like labor, which seems fitting since it after all was my BIRTHday, which in itself is a whole other story. =)
