Avy's Lavish Birthday.

This past week was The Princess' first birthday. And for the past 2 weeks prior to it I gave Martha Stewart a run for her money making every damned thing I could from scratch. A stress inducing experience with so many rewards once I was able to shake my groove thing at the end result. Kind of like labor, which seems fitting since it after all was my BIRTHday, which in itself is a whole other story. =)

Avynder was named after my favorite herb in the garden, Lavender, so it was only natural it be the theme for our first birthday celebration. Everything from Avys dress to the decorations, not to mention my first official baking extravaganza the day of the party turned out to be an edible success! Along with our loving supporting friends made it a great party day!

On the Menu- Fruits & Veggies, Tuna Salad with Pita chips, heart shaped tuna sandwiches and goldfish for the kiddies, Cheese Sampler, Fall Nuts& Berries, Olives, Lox and Salami cuts paired with Cream Cheese, Spicy Mustard, Onions, Capers, and fresh crispy baguette.

For refreshments- Hibiscus Lemonade and Wine (of course)! We recently aquired a Trader Joes in my wonderful city and I totally raided their 2 buck chuck aisle. Cheap and delicious!
All- in-all a great light nutritious and inexpensive spread. With all organic ingredients, minus the goldfish, I still cant believe I was able to keep it under my $100 budget!

For Dessert: Lemon Blackberry Vanilla Cupcakes with Blackberry Icing
                    Lavender Cake with Blueberry Icing
I really wanted purple cakes without the added food colorings. And these came out perfect. All natural and all organic. I even used Lavender from my fresh plants to make the cake!

I'd like to thank Aunti R for her wonderful helping craft hands and for making the awesome banner. Aunti S for her amazing fashion choice for Avys outfit. And Aunti L for being able to part with her Kitchen Aid Mixer aka the Mercedes of the kitchen, which btw if anyone is in a giving mood I could really use one of those bad boys!!
