We live about 4 blocks down from train tracks. They're not so close to where our house trembles every time it passes but definitely close enough to hear the horn and wheels beating on the tracks at 5am. We constantly get caught by the train and brother always asks to roll the windows down to hear it pass.
So this morning, bright and early..and I do mean BRIGHT and EARLY...Brother and I had breakfast and a long stroll on the tracks.
Being 10 feet away from a mega machine with an 88 car load was completely fascinating. The sound. The visual. The intensity.
I've always supported Brothers fascination with trains. I mean seriously you really gotta support your kid to sit through an episode of Tomas the Train, which in my opinion makes me feel like a zombie. Talk about one of the most boring kids shows! But today's experience was exact opposite. It was exciting and I know it was one he learned from. We both did.
So next time your running late and get caught in traffic because the longest train in the world is passing by, turn that annoyed frown upside down, roll down your windows and enjoy the CHOO-CHOO's!
